RV Air Conditioner Brands We Service
Dometic, Coleman-Mach, Furrion Chill, GE, and Advent Air โ our RVTI-certified technicians diagnose and repair them all. The brand doesn't matter. Getting it fixed right does.
Jump to a brand:
Dometic
Most Common Brand in RVsIf your RV came with an air conditioner from the factory, there's a good chance it's a Dometic. They're the most widely installed RV AC brand in North America and have been for decades. Dometic makes rooftop units, low-profile models, and underbunk systems for everything from pop-up campers to Class A motorhomes.
Dometic units are generally reliable, but they do develop common issues over time. Capacitor failures, fan motor burnout, thermostat malfunctions, and gasket deterioration are the repairs we see most often. On older models like the Brisk Air and Brisk II, compressor failures become more frequent after 8-10 years of heavy use.
We stock Dometic capacitors, fan motors, gaskets, and thermostats. Many Dometic AC repairs are completed the same visit.
Coleman-Mach
Airxcel Brand ยท Since 1967Coleman-Mach has been making RV air conditioners since 1967 and is the other dominant brand you'll find on RV rooftops. They're manufactured by Airxcel in Wichita, Kansas, and are known for strong cooling output and durable construction. If your AC has "Coleman" or "Mach" on the shroud, this is who made it.
Coleman units are built tough, but their capacitors and fan motors still wear out, especially in the Alabama heat. The Mach 8 and Mach 3 Plus are the models we see most in the shop. Their newer Mach 15 is a powerhouse โ 15,000 BTU that can cool a 40-foot motorhome โ but it draws high amperage on startup and can trip breakers at campgrounds with weak electrical pedestals.
Coleman-Mach also owns the Airxcel Mach brand. Same parent company, similar components. We service both.
Furrion Chill
Lippert Brand ยท Newer to MarketFurrion entered the RV AC market more recently and has been gaining ground, especially on newer travel trailers and fifth wheels. They're now owned by Lippert, one of the largest RV component manufacturers. Furrion Chill units are lighter than most competitors and feature aerodynamic shroud designs that reduce wind drag on the road.
Their newest Chill Cube line uses variable-speed compressor technology โ similar to residential mini-split systems โ which means quieter operation and lower power draw. That's a real advantage for boondockers and anyone running on generator power. However, because Furrion is newer to the AC space, early models had reported issues with temperature sensor placement and noise. The current generation has addressed most of those concerns.
Furrion parts are less commonly stocked at local RV shops, but we can source and install what's needed. Their conversion kits also allow Furrion units to replace existing Coleman or Dometic setups.
GE Appliances
Household Name in RV ACGE makes RV air conditioners that fit the standard 14"ร14" roof vent opening found on most American RVs, campers, and travel trailers. Their units compete directly with Dometic and Coleman on cooling performance, and many RV owners choose GE because they recognize and trust the brand from their home appliances.
GE RV air conditioners feature low-profile designs that reduce wind resistance, and their newer models include smart controls with Wi-Fi connectivity and touchpad interfaces. From a repair standpoint, GE units use many of the same types of components as other brands โ capacitors, compressors, fan motors, control boards โ but their specific part numbers differ.
We diagnose and repair GE RV air conditioners using the same systematic approach we use on every brand: test each component individually, find the actual failure, and fix it.
Advent Air
ASA Electronics ยท Budget-FriendlyAdvent Air, made by ASA Electronics, is the go-to budget RV air conditioner brand. You'll find these on entry-level travel trailers, smaller campers, and as replacement units for RV owners who want reliable cooling without a premium price tag. At around 69 lbs, they're also among the lightest rooftop AC units available โ a real advantage for smaller rigs near their weight limits.
Advent units are straightforward and simple to work on. They don't have as many electronic bells and whistles as Dometic or Furrion, which actually means fewer things to go wrong. When they do need repair, it's usually a capacitor, fan motor, or thermostat โ the same components that fail on every brand. Their lower initial cost also means the repair-vs-replace math is different: if the compressor fails on an Advent unit, replacement usually makes more sense than a compressor repair.
We service Advent Air units and can help you decide whether repair or replacement is the better investment for your situation.
Don't See Your Brand?
These are the brands we see most often, but they're not the only ones we work on. If your RV has a RecPro, Atwood, Pioneer, or any other air conditioner, we can diagnose and repair it. The fundamentals are the same across brands: compressors, capacitors, fan motors, control boards, and thermostats. Our RVTI-certified technicians know how all of them work.
Your RV AC Brand Doesn't Matter โ Getting It Fixed Right Does
Dometic, Coleman, Furrion, GE, Advent, or something else โ we diagnose the actual problem and fix it. No guessing. No upselling.
